Highlights
Heavy weather badly hurt retail sales in the March 3 week sending ICSC-UBS's same-store sales index down 0.4 percent week-on-week to a 1.5 percent year-on-year rate, well down from last week's 2.2 percent year-on-year rate and the lowest in more than 3-1/2 years! The report said the weather especially hurt seasonal apparel. It also noted continued weakness in furniture sales. Still, the report expects a respectable 2.5 to 3.0 percent year-on-year rate for the full month of February. Chain stores will post their monthly results on Thursday. Redbook is up next.
