Highlights
The burst of cold hitting the nation has turned what was a warm January into a cold January, especially in comparison to last January which was unusually warm. The result has been strong results for seasonal items, according to ICSC-UBS's same-store tally that showed a very strong 4.9 percent year-on-year pace in the Jan. 27 week -- the third straight reading near 5.0 percent. Week-on-week sales, a less significant reading, dipped 0.9 percent. Redbook is up next.
