Highlights
Same-store sales popped up solidly in the Jan. 6 week, according to ICSC-UBS's tally that showed a 0.7 percent week-on-week gain a 3.4 percent year-on-year gain. The report offered little explanation for the gain but it did offer important data on gift cards, saying purchases of the cards increased only slightly this year but that consumers are redeeming cards earlier than usual. Redbook is up next followed by Friday's big retail sales report for December.
