Unit vehicle sales moved higher in March and point to a badly needed gain for retail sales, a report that has posted three straight declines. But it wasn't economic news that moved the day's stock market, it was bargain hunting. The Dow almost reversed Monday's steep 1.9 percent loss with a 1.7 percent gain to 24,033. Bonds haven't shown nearly the volatility of stocks though demand did ease a bit during the session as the 10-year yield rose 4 basis points to 2.78 percent. Oil firmed slightly to $63.50 while gold eased slightly to $1,335.
