The Dow gained 0.4 percent to 24,895 showing little reaction to President Trump signing what he describes as "initial" tariffs on steel and aluminum, tariffs he can adjust depending on the country. The day's economic news is light and includes a tick higher for initial jobless claims which are nevertheless pointing to strength for tomorrow's employment report. Oil fell back $1 and is under $60.50 while gold held steady near $1,320. Rates have been steady all week with the 10-year Treasury ending at 2.86 percent. The dollar has been mixed and is now up slightly on the week following today's 0.7 percent gain for the dollar index to 90.18.
