The Dow opened Tuesday in a strong rally, up 1 percent and over 26,000 for the first time before gradually sinking to a fractional loss at 25,792. Empire State heads the day's economic news and opens the year's factory data with a very solid showing for January.
Bitcoin also fell and very sharply, from about $13,000 to $11,000. Money first eased out of the bond market and then edged back into it as the 10-year Treasury yield slipped 1 basis point in the end to 2.54 percent. The dollar was little changed while oil slipped to just below $64.
