Same store sales were up 1.3 percent year-on-year in the March 11 week, resuming the quickened growth pace set in mid-February and notching up the pace from the prior week's slowdown by 0.3 percentage points. The prior week's surprising drop in month-to-date monthly same store sales decreased by 0.2 percentage points to minus 0.6 percent, while the year-on-year monthly sales gain improved by 0.1 percentage point to 1.1 percent. Retailers in Redbook's same-store sample are continuing to report better sales comparisons than during the January lull, pointing to strength in core retail sales for March.
